THP REVEALS THE HOTTEST FOOD TRENDS FOR 2018, IN THIRD ANNUAL FLAVOR & TREND FORECAST
The popular report covers 2018’s top 10 trends and 5 that are primed to make a splash.
TORONTO, Ontario – November, 14, 2017 — THP recently released their third annual Flavor & Trend Forecast, which shares research-based insights about what ingredients and preparation methods are going to be huge in 2018. This year’s report features 10 food trends that are already on the rise and 5 that have the potential to be a surprise culinary craze.
Every year, THP produces more than 4,000 recipes in their test kitchen. Their list of trends is developed from these experiences, a leading culinary team and research conducted in-house and within the culinary industry.
“This year’s trends are particularly exciting, as they make it easy to transition from fine dining to cooking at home,” said Dana Speers, THP’s Director of Culinary Innovation. “Consumers have shown that they want to enjoy higher quality recipes at home and food brands have responded by making them more accessible.”
One of the notable trends for 2018 is the explosion in the use of citrus. Sure, Beyoncé set the tone last year with Lemonade, but the sweet, tangy, and tart taste is showing up in all kinds of recipes, too. Lemon’s not the only ingredient enjoying the spotlight, glam cakes, game meat and South Indian flavors are also getting in on the red carpet treatment.
“Our team takes great pride in being an industry leader in food and beverage trend research for our customers,” says Amanda Riva, CEO of THP. “Trends and information are evolving so rapidly that it can be hard to stay on top. Our goal is to make trend analysis easy and relevant for B2C- and B2B-based brands so they can better connect with their consumers. We are so appreciative of the positive feedback and reception our Trend Forecast continues to garner as we enter year three.”
